Think of it as physical therapy for your eyes. Vision therapy integrates visual acuity, the sharpness of vision and seeing fine details, with the binocular function plus detailed brain activities. It’s a sequence of therapy procedures individually prescribed to develop efficient visual skills and it can improve school performance for children. A vision evaluation at the Oklahoma Vision Development Center will help determine if vision therapy will be beneficial.
Rural Enterprises of Oklahoma, Inc. (REI) and Arvest Bank, Bartlesville, teamed up to facilitate the expansion utilizing the SBA 504 lending program. This financial partnership allowed Dr. Monte Harrel to move and consolidate two practices into a newly acquired 5,261 sq. ft. facility at 111 S. Lewis in Tulsa. The SBA 504 lending program was used for the purchase of land and building, machinery, equipment and renovation.
A graduate of Northeastern State University’s Optometry School, Dr. Harrel started his practice in a small office where he specialized in vision therapy. He worked with children having difficulty reading in school because of eye teaming disorders where both eyes are not working together as they should.
Later, Dr. Harrel acquired another optometry practice and the business has grown significantly with four optometrists now on board.
“When you get to work on a project that improves the lives of children, it makes it doubly exciting,” said Sam Vaverka, REI loan specialist. “We appreciated the opportunity to partner with Arvest Bank and Dr. Harrel because improved vision makes such a difference to enjoying life.”
Vaverka also said a visit to www.oklahomavision.com is a good investment of time, especially if parents have youngsters that could benefit from the special services of this business.
