February 09, 2010 – New Product and Process Fair Winners Announced

Founded over 20 years ago, the New Product and Process Fair has been inspiring the creativity of young and old alike. This year’s Fair in Oklahoma City was no exception with a total of $9,900 awarded to winners in the various divisions.

Fair Grand Prize Winners were Teri Ward, Sand Springs; Jamie McCracken,Mannford, small business division and Veronica Senkowski, secondary division, Oklahoma City.

Ward’s entry, Copper Bella Copper Plated Thermoplastic, brings metal plated industrial grade plastic to the construction industry. Jamie McCracken’s BrainSavy Teaching Tool brings fun to learning and Veronica Senkowski’s “Square It” is a board game for the visually impaired.

Winners in the elementary division were Mackezie Payton, Stillwater; Max Huss, Edmond and Stella Frisby, Stillwater.

Secondary division winners were Veronica Senkowski, Oklahoma City and Gary Solomon, Stillwater.

In the adult/collegiate division, Andrew Crews, Broken Arrow and Julie Greer, Eufaula, took the honors.

Small business division winners were Teri Ward, Sand Springs; Jamie McCracken, Mannford and Kerry Swink, Oklahoma City.

Open division winners were Terry Kilpatrick, Norman; Kristy Trammell, Choctaw and Charlie Thompson, Shawnee.

Examples of new products and process showcased at the Fair included a soccer ball return device, a first defense system against the destructive effects of brown recluse venom on the skin, a vertical wind generator, an alignment tool to help electricians, plumbers and pipefitters to find the center point for a pipe or conduit, and if you have dog, you will be interested in the “Crapper Snapper” to help you clean up after your pet. Fair founder, Wes Watkins says the annual event encourages invention and innovation which are the seeds of economic prosperity. “Our economic system is dependent upon innovation and entrepreneurship,” Watkins said. “This year’s Fair had a diversity of quality entries and every Fair contestant is to be congratulated for their vision and entrepreneurial spirit. It’s what keeps America strong.”
